As I get ready to leave for Ironman Arizona (which is on Sunday), I’ve prepared a checklist of stuff to bring for an Ironman triathlon. I figure I especially need this considering how I forgot my wetsuit on the drive to Ironman Coeur d’Alene from California a few years ago and had to turn around at the Oregon border (already 375 miles into the trip) to go fetch it.
Will be adding to this list throughout the day.
body glide (for back of neck)
Pam, to spray on legs (to ease removal of wetsuit)
heart rate monitor watch
heart rate monitor strap
tire pump (pump tires up day before, adding a few psi to compensate for overnight pressure loss)
chain lube (apply day before)
Profile Aerodrink bottle (or Jetstream)
2 water bottles
race belt w/ race number
seat pack with 2 tubes, patchkit, tire irons, multi-tool, and CO2 inflation system
gel belt with 2 gels and flasks of water and Gatorade/Carbo-Pro
Here is another checklist that my friend Steve Wickland found a few years ago, with the disclaimer that it is “a bit excessive for my taste but thought-provoking nonetheless.”
