Update from Panama

Just heard from my travel buddy, Tori, who is still in Bocas del Toro, Panama until tomorrow, when she flies back to Panama City. Alas, Bocas doesn’t sound quite as nice as Boquete. Observe:

“It hasn’t rained in the last couple days and is very hot in the afternoon (thankfully my room has a/c). More excitement in this icky place: the water to the entire city shut down this late morning and is still down as of this evening.

“I’m glad I didn’t do a tour today; it would suck to come back from being in the salt water and sun all day and not be able to rinse off. Anyway, looking forward to leaving.”

She reports that with the lack of readily available Internet access she has resorted to watching television in her hotel, but that almost all of it was in English so it “was a waste” of her time. :O She will be in Panama for 4 more days, so let’s hope for some happier and continued safe travels for her.

In the meantime, I can only live vicariously through her and the stories I am still working on. Yes, I’m a little behind; in between naps I encountered a little bit of writer’s block, but am now at it again!

Update 6:45 p.m. MST: Tori found better wi-fi access in a restaurant she is having some lagostinos (prawns) in right now! I had to laugh when she said that “the normally slow service is to my benefit now” as that means it gives her more time to linger and use their wi-fi.
