Back in December, Tori gave me a best-selling book written in 1970 she thought I’d like. A couple months later, I discovered that the author was coming to give a talk at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins.
I ended up reading the whole book the same afternoon I made that “discovery.” Then a couple days after that, I watched the movie based on the book of the same name.

“Maybe you could join us for lunch at one o’clock tomorrow,” I suggested to my dear friend as we cruised back from Thanksgiving dinner. “Before then, I’ll be at a motorcycle shop to check out the bikes and meet some celebrities.”

Jeff Galloway, the former 10,000-meter Olympian (1972) and best-selling author, came to visit Runners Roost in Fort Collins today, and it turned out his talk was very relevant to my latest posts about endurance sports, injuries and health.
“I am now on my 50th year of running,” said the 62-year-old marathon guru, “and have not been injured for the last 29. Before then, I was getting injured on average once every three weeks.” Continue reading »
Ok, I removed the post about “unhealthy role models” since I decided I want my website to continue to be about celebrating athletic achievements instead of denigrating them.
In that vein, I thought I’d post something about a “healthy role model” instead. One that comes to mind is Jack LaLanne, still alive at 93 years young. Continue reading »
