Centuries

It was my senior year of high school when I rode my first century ride with my friend Ken. My “training” was laughable, but with plenty of enthusiasm and naiveté, we finished — and I was hooked into long-distance bicycling ever since.

Delta Century

I came to do what I expected to be a nostalgic Delta Century for me, it being the very first century I ever rode 12 years ago. Instead, in a shocking development, I only got as far as 20 miles on the recumbent when a critical part snapped in half. But as I’d be riding my last double of 2000, the Knoxville Fall Classic on my recumbent, it’s time to start getting serious! Continue reading »

Tierra Bella Century

Apr 7th, 2001 (Sat) - Centuries

Excerpts from an email sent out a couple of days after the ride:

Well, maybe it was just as well the Tierra Bella was sold out before you could register… turned out to be kind of a wild day! On top of the morning rain and some rather strong afternoon winds, this is what happened to me: Continue reading »
