Great book for doing your own tours on a motorcycle (or car). McKechnie has a great sense of humor and his writing style makes this book about as interesting as a travel guide can be. The hand-drawn maps are nice along with his recommendations for stopping points.

I found this book very instrumental in my Northeast USA trip in April 2008 — specifically, for the White Mountains to Blue Seas Run.

Unfortunately, it only has 20 motorcycle tours — omitting many states (particularly in the midwest). It lacks an index, too.
