Stonehenge-like rocks at The Rock Garden.

The Rock Garden, Colorado’s Stonehenge

It has been nearly 10 years since The Rock Garden had been erected by a private individual, and yet I never had taken a stroll through it nor given it a long glance despite passing by it nearly everyday. Until now. The creator of it was inspired by Stonehenge during his visit to England in the 90s, and his intention was to create a public garden to likewise inspire others (and act as a showcase for his unique natural stone products for landscaping). I think he succeeded.

Maureen and I stopped through there one evening on the way, and marveled at the artfully arranged rock columns, spherical fountains, stone furniture and natural water features at The Rock Garden, situated on the southeast corner of N. College Ave. (US-287) and Terry Lake Rd. (Route 1). Below are photos from the visit. Definitely put it on your list of places to see if you are in the area; there is no cost to take a lot and it makes for a unique setting, one that is sure to bring a smile to your face.

About the Photos

For the third outing in a row I relied on my two-year-old Nokia Lumia 820 Windows Phone exclusively to take the photos below. Granted, the lighting did not make for challenging conditions, but nevertheless I am once again pleased with the results. What do you think?

I think I am going to stick with smartphone-only photography for the time being. Maybe forever.
