Recently my thermostat started displaying “LO BAT,” so I did what any normal person would do and replaced the batteries. I popped in a freshly charged pair of nickel metal hydride double-A’s, reset the clock and temperature setpoints, and was on my way.
It appears, though, that the thermostat does not particularly care for the rechargeable batteries I put in. Either that or the thermostat is broken. This video, below, shows what happens.
Basically, the thermostat keeps shutting off until I give it a love tap. The upside of this, I suppose, is that it makes me feel like the Fonz of Happy Days when I do this.
I suppose I better figure out what’s really wrong with the thermostat before it starts getting cold. Even Fonzie never cared to freeze his butt off.
