A hazy view of the shores of Calais from the ferry boat arriving from Dover.
My very first trip to France was an afternoon ferry-hop from Dover, England for about 4 or so hours. The ferry ride was about 1.5 hours and cost 7 pounds (at the time, about 12 US$), which allowed me to get a glimpse of the country I envisioned going cycling through a few years later.
