Silverton, Colorado has a population of about 500 people and is along the souther end of that gorgeous US-550 corridor and has a ski resort. It is 50 miles north of Durango and the stretch from Silverton up to Ouray would all qualify for Ouray’s claim to being “the Switzerland of America.”
