Undoubtedly, one of my favorite weekends of the year is when 300 classic and custom automobiles take residence on the streets of Old Town Fort Collins. Usually this occurs in June on the same weekend as the Taste of Fort Collins, but this year—due to the threat of rain—the event was rescheduled to this weekend in September.
It was a gorgeous autumn day so Leah and Faith joined me to gawk at all the metal and chrome and pick out our favorites. Actually, before they even found me, Faith had already chosen three vehicles that she wanted. Then she selected a car that she thought I should get—a 30s hot rod!
My favorite car of the show was, unsurprisingly, a convertible—a refrigerator white 50s Corvette. But I also really liked a three-door 1957 Hillman Husky, late 70s Fiat Spyder and the Shelby Cobra replicas. Actually, I liked most of the cars even though 95% of them were Detroit iron and less than 1% of them were from outside North America or Europe. The only car from Asia was a Datsun Fairlady roadster.
