In 2007, my friend Tori and I went to Panama for a couple of things: to improve our Spanish and to engage in some eco-adventures. The trip vastly exceeded my expectations, especially our time in Boquete, a small picturesque town in the Panamanian mountains. Every now and then, I still reminisce about that little piece of paradise.
All of my Panama articles are done now. You can find them in a number of ways: browse the category Panama, or go directly to this Panama itinerary.
If you only want to look at photos, they are here.
Tomorrow, Tori comes back from Panama too. It was one of the best vacations I’ve ever had!
Just heard from my travel buddy, Tori, who is still in Bocas del Toro, Panama until tomorrow, when she flies back to Panama City. Alas, Bocas doesn’t sound quite as nice as Boquete. Observe:
“It hasn’t rained in the last couple days and is very hot in the afternoon (thankfully my room has a/c). More excitement in this icky place: the water to the entire city shut down this late morning and is still down as of this evening. Continue reading »
All of my Panama photo galleries are up and they even have photo captions now. Onto doing the write-ups. Here’s a few for you: food, animals and cars in Panama.
In other news, Tori is still in Panama (Bocas del Toro). Apparently, it’s been pouring in parts of Panama for 1-6 hours the last few days, including a hike she did in Boquete on Sunday! I had just missed the rain… too bad.

Phew!
As much as I enjoyed Panama — particularly, Boquete and the Chiriquí province where we spent most of our time — I am glad to be back in the Rocky Mountain state with clean air and peace and quiet after the last couple of days in Panama City. Now I can finally sit down and post all the Panama recaps and photos I’ve been meaning to. Continue reading »
To regular readers of this site, it should be no secret that in general, I’m not a fan of big cities (with the possible exception of Paris). Hence, in planning my Panama trip I limited my stay in la capital to three days. If I were to do it again I probably would have stayed there even less! Continue reading »
Yesterday, well after I waved goodbye to Tori and some new friends in Boquete, Panama and returned to Panama City, my heart felt a few tinges of sadness and pangs of sorrow.
Boquete, after all, is a small paradisical town nestled within a bowl of verdant mountains, overlooked by a giant volcano and bisected by a wild, rocky river. Continue reading »
