CA Double Centuries
So the 2007 double century schedule for California is out now. By my count, there are a whopping 18 200-mile organized bike rides in the Golden State (or maybe 17, as it’s unclear whether the Bay in a Day Double will be held again this year). And guess what? It appears that I have done them all! Well, almost.
I’ve ridden the Solvang Double in the spring three times, but as of 2006, there’s a new Solvang Autumn Double that is “significantly more challenging than the Spring event” with 3,300 feet more climbing. Hmmm, I just may have to come down to CA in October to do it…
Are there any more that I am missing on the list below? If so, please let me know by leaving a comment.
Regarding which of the following rides were my favorites, see the article entitled 10 years of double centuries. Happy cycling!

In addition, according to www.bbcnet.com/RideCalendar/RideListDate.asp , Anny Beck plans to have double centuries on 2/19/2007 ("Joshua Tree 200") and on 5/5/2007 ("Diehard Double Century" - I participated in the test ride, last November). Then, George Vargas ( www.epictrain.com/files/Double_Calendar_2007.pdf ) seems to know something about "San Diego's Finest Double Century" on 3/31/2007 (with 19,000+ ft elevation gain). All this is without counting the six complete brevet series in Davis, San Diego, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa. ( www.rusa.org/cgi-bin/eventsearch_GF.pl ). So many rides, so little time!
Thanks, Joseph! I won't count the brevets, but those other double centuries warrant attention. Must investigate :)
