Multilingualism

Ever since I became an adult I’ve been fascinated by multilinguals who can easily switch between languages without batting an eye. Learning another language not only gives a person a deeper appreciation of the nuances of communication and culture, but makes traveling abroad a lot more enjoyable.

Currently I speak Spanish (near-fluent), French (advanced), Mandarin (intermediate) and Portuguese (beginner) in addition to English (native). My parents’ first tongue is Cantonese and I can sometimes understand enough to know when they are talking about me in that language, but I can’t sufficiently speak it to save my life.
