Marathon States
Within my lifetime I wanted to run a marathon in all U.S. states. On September 25, 2022 in Alaska, I achieved that goal. It took 23 years!
Then on October 29, 2023, I ran over 44 kilometers in the District of Columbia. D.C. is not a state (yet) but I included it as part of the marathon states goal.

One comment:
My brother has basically the same goal and he sacrificed running Chicago for Indianapolis, even though he lives in Evanston (he's done Chicago several times already). In sharp contrast to Chicago, Indianapolis had something like ~600 marathon finishers.
